Class Description:

This training will give you a sound introduction to the prominent new features available with Oracle 10g. (Both Release 1 and Release 2 features are taught.) You will also learn about upgrading to Oracle 10g.

The primary objective of this training is to provide you with an understanding of the intended purpose and use of the feature, while adding context from the instructor's research and / or use of the feature. Most topics are discussed within the context of a working example, so you will have a head-start on implementation.

It is not possible to cover every new feature supplied with Oracle 10g Releases 1 and 2. Therefore, we urge to carefully review the Topic Summary provided below. If you have a concern that a feature you have particular interest in may not be discussed, we urge you to contact SkillBuilders prior to the class to talk to your instructor.

This course has been updated for Oracle 10g Release 2.

Audience: Oracle DBAs, programmers, operators and managers with technical experience will benefit from the class.

Prerequisites: Students must already have a working knowledge of Oracle, preferably Oracle9i. Students should be taking the course as an introduction to the new features in Oracle 10g , not as an introduction to Oracle concepts. Those needing an introduction to Oracle should attend SkillBuilders' Introduction to Oracle: SQL & SQL*Plus course.

Objectives: After successfully completing this course, you will understand the key new features in Oracle 10g and be able to determine if and where the feature can be used in your systems. You will also understand the migration (upgrade) paths and methods available, including an understanding of the use of the Database Upgrade Assistant (DBUA) and manual upgrades.
