Groovy and Grails Training for Ellucian Banner Developers

Ellucian (the new company formed as the result of a merger between Sungard Higher Education SGHE and Datatel) has started releasing modules for Banner 9, based on the Groovy language and the Grails framework.

Acquiring New Skills for Ellucian Banner Developers

Developers will need reskilling. Since Groovy is based on the Java language (it’s considered a “super version” of Java; Groovy runs in the JVM) and many developers will not be familiar with Java nor and object oriented language, OO concepts and basic Java skills will be the place to start - i.e. Gentle Java and OO Development. Then onto Getting Started with Groovy and Grails.

Developers already familiar with an OO language but not Java should consider starting with Fast Track to Java for OO Developers.   Then onto Getting Started with Groovy and Grails.

Experienced Java developers can jump right in with Groovy for Java Developers.

Also consider starting with Groovy and Grails for Sungard Banner Developers, another free tutorial.
